July 2013

July was a great month! We have been busy busy but made some great memories along the way!

4th of July Morning. Mom, Dad, John & I ran the Firecracker 5k. Matt & Houston braved the weather to cheer me on!

My view when I met up with them after! Houston got his paws on a little American flag and he was going crazy waving it and yelling (a new skill he has acquired).  I love my spunky boy! Houston & I had plans to hangout with Matt afterwards at Crossfit, but it was raining & his gym is outdoors, so we headed home for some dry clothes, breakfast, and naps!

The rain let up later that afternoon, so Houston got to go for his 1st real wagon ride in Sadie's new wagon!!
I have never seen him so excited...his mouth was open like this the ENTIRE RIDE. We will have to get him a wagon soon!

(side note: It's such a shame my child is never happy, right?? Love his enthusiasm for life!!)

1st time I realized he's playing like a "big kid" Uncle John was playing with him earlier and taught him to zoom his cars around and make "engine" noises! Where did my little baby go?!?

He can push and walk with his puppy toy if we help him!

Meals are shirtless these days because he makes such a mess!!  This baby LOVES his food!

So maybe after a bath I let him play naked for a while- I just can't get enough of those sweet rolls & sweet smelling baby skin!

Chickfila Cow Appreciation Day!! This was our
ticket to a free dinner, Thanks Houston!!

Road Trip to Atlanta to throw Sarah & Baby Stewart a baby shower!! He was ready  for a car nap after
charming some elderly folks at Panera

If you can't tell, the pregnant one is in the striped dress! ha! Sarah is the cutest, most fit pregnant mom I've ever encountered! I can't way to meet Baby Stewart soon!!

 WE LOVE YOU SARAH!
MVBC Youth Group Reunion. It was so good to see so many old friends! And meet Baby Lyla Lowery that Houston
and I "stalk" on Instagram and Facebook!
Just being Spunky at the Gorin's house in
Huntsville on our way back home!

This kid gets funnier and funnier every day!

June 2013

I feel like in June we turned a corner as far as activity we went from no crawling to.... ALL OVER THE PLACE!

This was where we were at the beginning of the month... no movement, just a plank style push up and some crying when he couldn't get where he wanted to go....

He was still working on feeding himself... for a while he was using the "two handed approach"... one hand to hold food and the other to guide that hand to his mouth. Meals were S-L-O-W :)

Plank turned into a backwards scoot and anything he wanted to take with him was drug in his mouth! Here he and Eddie were going for a scoot together. Eddie has QUICKLY become his lovie of choice. They are now BFF.

Here we are cooking dinner one night! He was teething and didn't want to be alone, so I strapped him in the Bjorn carrier and we cooked dinner together! I love this pic- he is such a funny kid!

Mimi and Papa babysat one night and Matt and I were able to sneak away for a dinner & a movie date night!

We've been enjoying pool time on weekends! I love my boys!

June 5, 2013- 9 months!

A little post-bath lovin'

We were able to meet up in Nashville with one of my childhood friends Mallory!! She and her hubby were in town with some friends so we met them at Burger Up for lunch!

Father's Day!

Houston loves his Daddy! I told Matt to get ready early for church and I surprised him with breakfast at Frothy Monkey in downtown Franklin. We had never eaten there before but they had such good breakfast!

More family time in the park!

Sometimes when afternoons get long, we bang away at the piano.
He thinks it's so funny!! He will bang out a few
notes then look back to make sure I'm watching!

Skyping wtih Ma-Ma & Pop-Pop

He's now standing and "cruising" around furniture and toys! This was the first time he stood at his activity table and shuffled around to play with all 4 sides. Such a big strong boy!

Because of all this crawling around he was moved up Sunday School Classes! Goodbye Baby Bear  class, Hello Turtles! This was his first Sunday in the Turtles Class!

He's starting to get into trouble. I'm sure it will get old at some point, but I still think it's so funny when I turn around and he's into something funny. Here, I turned my back to set the table for dinner and when I turned back around he had unrolled half of the paper towels and was SO PROUD of himself!

This time, I was making brownies at Mom & Dad's house. Mom was holding him up while he was sitting on the counter... Mom turned with me while I put the brownies in the oven and while we weren't looking, Houston grabbed the brownie dough bowl and spatula and was trying to get a lick! Sneaky by!

Watching Daddy mow the grass out the playroom window....

SO GOOD at feeding himself now! It makes our meals less rushed because he can do it mostly on his own! Hooray!

Diaper changing is a whole new game... I have to be fast or he flips and crawls away
naked before I have time to blink my eyes! Love this kid!

My written milestone say:
6/4 was his first "Army" style crawl
6/22 first Pull up to a standing position
6/24 first time with a "real" crawl on his knees
6/28- First side-step walking while holding onto the activity table

Family Pictures

Lindsey has a good friend in Huntsville who is a photographer. We went down one weekend in May for Misty to snap some family pics! I wanted to capture Houston in his chunky squishy stage before he started crawling and thinning out!!

Here are some of my favorites.....

I am SO happy with the results and can't wait to put some of these pictures up in our house! If you are anywhere near Huntsville, definitely look up Misty Nichols Photography, she did such a great job!

May 2013

May was such a fun month! Houston continues to grow and his little personality comes out more and more! This month he really started feeding himself. So much fun!

I experienced my 1st Mother's day! My boys
brought me some Starbucks in bed!

Then, I got to cuddle and play with my little man while Matt made us a yummy breakfast before church! This is a special memory I'll always have because Houston had just slept 12 hours straight and was in SUCH a good mood cuddling with me and giggling... I loved it!!

Mom was out of town, so after church Dad came over to hang
out with us! I enjoyed spending time with my
3 main men on my first Mother's Day!

We spend some of the afternoon at the park in our
neighborhood! Houston loves swinging these days!

Houston was 8 months old on May 5th... again with the personality coming out! haha!

I just LOVE this sweet boy!! He is so laid back and
just such a joy to spend my days with!

This day he was helping me do laundry... I drug him around in a basket upstairs while we were putting laundry away!
He thought it was so funny!

His faces while he swings are priceless!

Memorial Day weekend was spent in South Carolina! Most of the weekend was at Granny's house with Matt's family. Here Houston is getting a bath in Granny's Kitchen sink!! I didn't get any pictures of Houston with his Ma-Ma & Pop-Pop. Next time
I will have to remember to take some!

We spent one night in Irmo, SC with the Lloyds!
They took us to the zoo and Houston loved being
with his Auntie and cousins!

Checking out the giraffe

Riding the carousel with Cousin Jackson.
Both boys loved this!

I just love to watch them play together- they are
going to be such good buddies!

1st Pool Day!

Such a sweet smile! He was a little hesitant at first but then was so relaxed just floating around!

We got some good cousin time in Mimi & Papa's backyard! These 4 are a handful but they are such a sweet handful and add so much spunk and joy to all of our lives!
